About the course

The Importance of ESOS

In June 2014, the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) introduced a new regulation, Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS). This regulation required all large enterprises to carry out an ESOS compliant energy assessment by 5 December 2015 and then every four years thereafter. The deadline for the second ESOS Phase is in 2019.

About the EMA Energy Management in Practice Training Programme (LEC 4)

The EMA Energy Management in Practice (LEC 4) is a training programme intended to equip a learner with an ability to analyse, critique and apply energy management and energy reduction in an organisation, some of which may include emerging techniques at the forefront of research. He/she is expected to demonstrate original thinking in energy management; apply problem-solving skills; take responsibility for the overall energy performance of the organisation; and/or exert influence in the organisation's energy management approach and strategy. This course is one of the steps towards becoming an EMA Registered ESOS Lead Assessor.

The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) requires the energy assessment to be led and approved by a lead ESOS energy assessor. This course provides participants experienced in energy assessments with knowledge to lead, review and approve an ESOS energy assessments. It uses the fundamentals of ISO 50002 and PAS 51215 as a basis.
